My Story
I’m Christsenio Dean, a registered nurse and an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. I graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. To enhance my knowledge in lactation, I pursued lactation education at the University of California-San Diego Extension. For several years, I worked as a RN in the PICU and NICU, but currently, I’m working as a lactation consultant in a hospital setting. In January 2024, I proudly obtained my IBCLC certification. The wonders of the woman’s body during pregnancy and lactation truly fascinate and amaze me. That’s why I love dedicating my time to breastfeeding education and ensuring the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding.

As a nurse and lactation consultant, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact that early breastfeeding education can have on a mother’s confidence and success. The Facts
The Breast Start LLC is dedicated to promoting early breastfeeding education with the aim of giving babies a better start in life. Research has shown that breastfed babies have lower rates of illness in infancy and a reduced risk of childhood obesity. Growing and thriving can be challenging when faced with frequent infections and illnesses. Breastfeeding is a crucial public health concern, and Healthy People 2030 has set goals to increase the number of babies exclusively breastfeeding at 6 months and breastfeeding at one year. By introducing breastfeeding education in childhood and before pregnancy, it is possible to improve breastfeeding rates. Early education will help normalize breastfeeding and provide greater opportunities for informed decision making, increasing the likelihood of initiating breastfeeding in adulthood, rather than learning about it for the first time after giving birth. Trying to learn something new during an emotional and exhausting time can be incredibly difficult and frustrating. Nonetheless, The Breast Start LLC is ready to meet you wherever you are in your breastfeeding education journey.
